| IN CASE I FORGET TO REMEMBER

SITE SPECIFIC INSTALLATION

"It is an image of war… war on the planet, war on each other, war on ourselves. But I also find it beautiful, which has something to do with the ambiguity of visual representation — and human experience.”

In Case I Forget To Remember (136’ x 53’) was installed in Downtown Los Angeles for a single night on September 17, 2022.

Projected on the wall of an abandoned hotel, the image splits schematically into floors and rooms, as if seen in cross-section. Dozens of images of climate devastation, stitched together and time warped, simultaneously reference the visual record of countless wars stored in the collective psyche. Field audio of ocean waves, recorded in Santa Monica and synced to the projection, acted as the soundtrack to the work.

As part of Luminex 2022, the piece was seen by over 20,000 visitors. After the exhibition, an AR app allowed visitors to the location to view a virtual version of the work.
